Top 5 Tuesday: Nail Polish

I'm a huge Essie fan and whenever I get my nails done or purchase a new color- I only the Essie brand! 

1. Ballet Slippers

I'm all for neutral colors during any time of year- nudes and light pinks are my absolute favorites! In my opinion they always classic, clean and pretty (and chip the least!) What's your favorite shade of pink?


2. Watermelon

A little red and dark pink mixed in creates my favorite summer color for my toes! It's fun and creates a pop of color on my tan summer feet! It's not too bright but not too subtle for the summer months! What's your favorite toe color for summer? 

3. Aperitif

This is by far my favorite red for the holiday season! It's bright and cheerful and the perfect shade to ring in my favorite time of year. Sometimes reds can look so different in the bottle as compared to on your nails but this color is definitely reliable! What's your favorite color for the holiday season? 

4. Tom Boy No More

Now I know that I just said I prefer neutral tones instead of dark colors for my nails but sometimes in the January/February months when the weather is just so damn miserable (especially in Boston) I need to give in to something darker. This shade is perfect to fit my mood that time of year- dark but still with a hint of red! What's your favorite dark color?

5. Turquoise & Caicos

So I'll be honest here- I've only worn this color once on my toes this past summer...but i really really enjoyed it! It's a little different/wild for me (let me repeat that I really do stick to neutral colors) but once in a while it's fun to mix it up! This gives your nails or toes a fun pop of color but is still light enough that it's not obnoxious!

Happy Fall!

Without question, Fall is absolutely my FAVORITE season! Everything about it makes me OH, so happyyy...from big coozy sweaters, leather boots and the chance to drink a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks...what could be better? 

Maybe it's the fact that Fall means we're just that much closer to CHRISTMAS (an entirely separate blog post will be dedicated to this special special holiday).  With fall comes the start of classes (um just experienced my last fall semester of college...it's november and I'm still not over it yet), new school supplies, boots, sweaters and scarves (if you couldn't already tell I love scarves, see my post here about them), changing colors of the leaves, and the crisp chill in the morning that turns into the perfect jacket-optional weather.

I think Boston is the ideal place to enjoy Fall weather. The Charles River is absolutely gorgeous when the leaves change colors. Going for a run on the river in the mornings is one of my favorite activities.

As I mentioned before, the Fall season is my absolute favorite season for fashion. I'm all about comfort so the fact that you can just wear leggings, jeans, or a skirt paired w/tights, big sweaters, boots and a scarf is ideal for me...

Two of my other favorite things about the Fall are Thanksgiving AND APPLE PICKING! Growing up in New York City, it was hard to do a ton of outdoorsy things very often but my parents made a tradition of going apple and pumpkin picking in the Hamptons every Columbus Day Weekend. I loved picking my own apples, drinking hot apple cider while snacking on a cider donut, getting myself lost in the corn maze on purpose just to scare my mom. The day was the epitome of my favorite season. I still try to go apple picking with my sorority every fall. This past October we went to Tougas Family Farm together and despite the fact that it was a little rainy it was still such a great time spent with my sisters!
